Kenneth C. Malek, the founder of Ken Malek Associates, Inc. began his career as a buyer for Gimbel Bros. in 1976. Shortly after joining Gimbels Ken decided to pursue a law degree. Ken attended Western New England School of Law at night and worked as Director of Training and Executive Development for May Department Stores in Hartford, CT. Upon receiving his J.D., Ken returned to Gimbels to become General Manager of two stores in the Philadelphia division. In 1983, Ken was promoted to Vice President, Stores Administration for the newly formed 23 store Gimbels East Division. In 1984, Ken was appointed Vice President of Organization Development with responsibility for 4,000 employees including 1,100 executives. In the fall of 1986, Ken was retained by the parent company, Batus, to direct the outplacement of the 4,000 displaced workers. In the fall of 1987, Ken opened the first office of Ken Malek Associates in Center City, Philadelphia specializing in retail executive search. In early 1988, Ken decided to expand the scope of his firm to include the direct response industry. Ken opened a second office in Simsbury, Connecticut and a third office in Tampa, Florida.

Our Tampa office is headed by Joseph Dascola who has had over twenty five years experience with direct marketing and consumer packaging companies. He has worked and lived in Europe, Canada, Mexico and the Far East. His background is a blend of operations and direct marketing.

He was continually promoted to progressively greater positions of responsibility with companies such as Johnson & Johnson and Prince Tennis Racquets. In 1986, he was promoted to Director of European Operations for the Franklin Mint and then to Vice President and General Manager, Franklin Mint Canada. In 1990, he assumed the position of President & COO of Calstar, a direct marketing catalog company promoting rare coin and stamp collectibles.

His most recent assignment, since joining Ken Malek Associates in 1993, was as Vice President, Operations for Gage Marketing Group. Gage is a provider of integrated marketing services (i.e.: Catalog fulfillment, teleservices and coupon clearing), to companies involved in consumer and business products or services.

Joe brings a practical hands on understanding of the direct marketing environment and the needs of our client base.
